We are beginning to get a bit over the chilly starts around here and although we realise we don't have it nearly as bad as our southern friends we have decided we are going to dream of palm trees, fruity cocktails with colourful straws and books piled up next to oversized sunloungers!

It got me thinking about what makes a gorgeous summer sorjourn so wonderful (apart from the time off work of course!) and I instantly started thinking interiors! It's that Island Luxe atmosphere - clean lines free from clutter, accented with bolts of saturated colour against a calming backdrop of neutral and natural tones. Lots of comfortable seating to laze about in; think daybeds and outdoor sofas upholstered in stone, sand or white and scattered with large sumptuous colourful throw cushions that can be snuggled into with a good book or a glass of wine. Add some focal points with glass hurricanes, stone features, and oversized hammocks, sisal flooring and timber/rattan/bamboo finishes and you've got yourself a home away from home at home! Here's some of my favourites!

My recent run-in with the fabulous Abigail Ahern of Atelier fame has reignited my passion for pink. I can honestly say I don't think there is a girl out there who doesn't love pink and if she says she does - she's lying! Personally, for me, the more vibrant and shocking the better - I love that kind of pink that jumps out and punches you in the face. However, it's such a versatile colour that a plethora of shades can be used in a multitude of settings to create an enormous breadth of atmospheric interiors. If you're lucky enough to have a partner who doesn't gasp at the inclusion of pink in your home (I do - our guest room is a delightful mix of traditional black and white with some shocking pink accessories) try a few explosions of pink in key pieces such as the settee, custom spray painted coffee table and bar stools shown in these examples to add some sexiness to your home. xx
