This drizzly weather has me dreaming of warmer climates with white sandy beaches, rocky outposts, glorious ocean views, meditteranean sunshine and a culinary feast! Unfortunately, with no island getaway on the horizon I must be content to indulge in the 200 plus photographs that take you on a journey of John Stefanidis Greek Island home in his latest book, An Island Sanctuary: A Home in Greece. A stunning coffee table book illustrating the signature style of lauded the Interior Designer himself. John's home is a perfect illustration of restrained and relaxed interiors incorporating an ABUNDANCE OF COLOUR rather than the typical white on sand on beige that is often misrepresented as 'sophisticated'! The pages transport you to his Greek home and may I say the question posed is 'how big is this home?!' Room after room unfolds with beautiful vignettes and spaces filled with white washed interiors dappled in sunlight, cobble stone courtyards over flowing with bright orange and pink Bouganvillea and a myriad of homeware collections from his many travels around the globe. I've long been very attracted to his way of decorating : sophisticated, clean finishes, strong use of colour and through the use of raw bricks as tiles and heavy wood beams a warmth is born in a space which would otherwise be quite cold.
