Girls Night Out! National Breast Cancer Foundation Fundraiser 13.10.10

I'm still beaming from ear to ear from the success of our first joint fundraising effort with The Caf Coolum and Flax Flower held last Wednesday night in aid of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Our sold out event, Girls Night Out!, was a hit with 40 local ladies taking to a night of shopping, tapas, wine and great music in order to raise over $800 for such a worthy cause, most of whom did not leave empty handed!!! A huge thank you to our amazingly generous suppliers who literally gobsmacked us all with their generosity by donating a tonne of fabulous prizes for our raffle. Gift sets from Polka Luka, Corban and Blair, Steady Sticks, Merlo Coffee, The Caf Coolum, Ninni and Jo, Whistling Teal, Gorgeous Hair and Beauty, Flax Flower were only some of the prizes on offer. In conjunction, each guest received a goodie bag with a Salt Magazine, gifts from Me and Amber, OP Therapy and the OB Collection. After an hour or so of retail therapy (all in the name of Breast Cancer Research of course!) we all adjourned to The Caf where our VIP's enjoyed a plentiful selection of mouth watering tapas delicacies prepared by Simon @ The Caf, serenaded with delightful acoustic renditions by talented local muso, Andrew Redford and entertained with a whimsical vintage fashion parade hosted by Flax Flower. We were so lucky to have a local breast cancer survivor share her experience with us. Such a brave and personal story which really brought it home to all how important it is to continue with events such as this. Well done to all involved - ladies you are truly marvellous!
I have a dangerous love affair with fresh cut flowers. Our garden at home is full of plants that I can take fresh cutting from and I am continually placing bunches of gardenia's, daisies, hibiscus and other such fancies around our house, I can't leave the markets without 3 or 4 bunches of hot pink carnations and the local florist would refer to me as a 'regular'! They just give me such pleasure and can instantly lift and revitalise a tired room before guests arrive. They always put a smile on my face. So yesterday when my good friend Amanda from Flax Flower showed me these my big cheesy grin melted away my daily stresses.
Now, of the all the flowers, the Rose doesn't always hit the top of my list but how could I resist these divine Colombian Roses? The most delicate musk pink with cream tips and big voluptous buds. Instant love!
