Change of season.

I might be running a bit late but this sudden cold snap has got me thinking. With a complete weekend off (who could imagine!) I've decided it is time to transform my gorgeous outdoor entertaining area into a cosy Winter space where we can continue to entertain friends through the cooler months and let those crystal clear days turn into cosy nights on the deck.

So here is my three step plan to transform this space into a Winter wonderland.

Step 1 - I think everyone appreciates a crackling, heart warming fire. I like the look of the new Revolver Solid based firepit by wholesaler Outliving. Sturdy, safe for when kiddly winks are visiting and compact enough to put centrally between our oversized daybeds.

Step 2 - Lots of bright scatter cushions, oversized beanbag seating and toasty blankets that can be thrown over seats, lounges and daybeds, being easy to reach as the sunsets and the evenings cool.

Step 3 - involves red wine and beautiful glassware for our family and friends to sip from.........

Enough to make you hibernate.

The cool change in the weather each Autumn makes me languid and lazy. Every morning ' just another 1/2 hour, just another 1/2 hour' is my mantra as I snuggle under my bedcovers in the sanctuary that is our bedroom. Although, I feel it is time for a bit of a change and out with the crisp white covers and fresh colour palette - I want to get warm and cozy, introduce some natural timbers, velvety textures and atmospheric lighting. This is what I'm thinking.....

   curl up...............
   snuggle up.........
   and dream.........

Coming up roses!

I have a dangerous love affair with fresh cut flowers. Our garden at home is full of plants that I can take fresh cutting from and I am continually placing bunches of gardenia's, daisies, hibiscus and other such fancies around our house, I can't leave the markets without 3 or 4 bunches of hot pink carnations and the local florist would refer to me as a 'regular'! They just give me such pleasure and can instantly lift and revitalise a tired room before guests arrive. They always put a smile on my face. So yesterday when my good friend Amanda from Flax Flower showed me these my big cheesy grin melted away my daily stresses.

Now, of the all the flowers, the Rose doesn't always hit the top of my list but how could I resist these divine Colombian Roses? The most delicate musk pink with cream tips and big voluptous buds. Instant love!

Cherry on the cake!

Late last week I had a meeting to discover the latest collection from Nomades to be released 'La Cerise Sur Le Gateau' - it certainly was the cherry on the cake for this French soft furnishings designer. There's something about the French that just makes me ooze, I love the casual coolness and flair, understated elegance and sheer talent that exudes French Style.

Steering away from the traditionally whimsical and bright folky feel about their work, Nomades latest range has an edge to it that very much appealed to my sensibilities.

Coussin Alice Zinc      Torchon Babette Cerise      Torchon Alicette rose

An instant favourite for me was Louisette, more art than teatowel, this caricature has infused life to it through just a simiple turn of her red polka dot foot! Simply put : J'Adore La Cerise sur le Gateau !!

The chair that made me smile.

Today I literally found a chair I could fall truly madly deeply in love with!

Aren't they gorgeous?

For me they just tick all the right boxes - colour, design, pattern, durability, practicality. Uk furniture company WKworks has designed the Papeete chair as an outdoor seat and it also comes in an equally 'must have' barstool. They are available in over 200 of the most deliciously vibrant colours  - I want one in every colour!!

Congratulations to Julie and her girls!

It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of designer Julie Paterson and her label Cloth Fabric. They make the most glorious hand made, bespoke homewares and soft furnishings and truly suit the laid back style and cruisey feel of coastal living which I just adore! I love the natural simplicity that finds it's way through the Cloth teams work.

Julie has just launched her new wallpaper collection in partnership with the divine Porter's Paints, adding to their bevvie of collaborations. Check out her website for all the details http://www.clothfabric.com/category/blog/ I am so excited about this release!!

She's taken six of her most popular designs and reinvented them with gentle soothing silvers, light grey and sand and added interruptions of coral, tumeric, mint and boyblue - it is so refreshing and uplifting and reinvents her most recognisable designs. Each wallpaper design comes in two colourways. I fallen for the boardwalk with the grey, soft grey and coral. Nothing optimises the Australia beachy way of life like the thousands of kilometers of chain board the leads us the the open surf right along our coastlines. Love it!

I'll be looking to stock the Cloth Fabric Wallpapers by Porter's Paints that can be bought by the metre for under $30 shortly! Exciting Exciting!

Welcome to found.

Welcome to found.!

I'm asked on a daily basis 'where do you source all your stock and ideas?'. The answer is  simple - through an ENORMOUS amount of homework!! Sure there are trade shows, gift fairs and design expos but to get to the unique and individual you have to delve a little deeper. A labour of love, my job allows me to research and learn about the industry I love. It is a fabulous link to my creative side and I love every minute of it. The world of interior decorating and retail is colourful and exciting and constantly evolving so I am continually on the hunt for the latest artist, trend or piece that will fit just perfectly either in the store or for our latest client. And so this blog was born, found. Here I will unveil the inspiration and creativity that eventually finds it's way into our work and on the shelves. On the constant quest for the latest and greatest, this is what I've found. Enjoy!!
