WHITEHAVEN, Hyatt Regency Coolum
Located in the newest beachfront estate at The Hyatt Regency Coolum, Whitehaven, this four bedroom, four bathroom architecturally designed home was to act as a luxurious holiday rental and retreat for their bustling, fully grown family. A fresh palette of colours with a strong emphasis on natural fibres, textures and finishes were used throughout the hub of the home to emulate a coastal yet contemporary feel to the property.
Oversized, super-comfortable sofas and armchairs custom upholstered in hues of aqua, mint and oatmeal included to cater to the ebb and flow of family and friends. A spectacular 3 metre long Tasmania Oak dining table, the work of a local furniture artisan, was accompanied by sophisticated upholstered dining chairs using textile designer Julie Pattersons range Cloth Fabric. Seen from every angle of the home, the Birds Nest pendants were incorporated to frame the dining area and add a three dimensional element to the space.Durable all weather outdoor furniture creates an easy transition from beach to home, lap pool to lounge. Mokum Textiles Aitutaki range of bright stripes adds classic style, yet vibrance to each of these areas.
The bedrooms incorporate a variety of boutique textiles as soft furnishings and wall art, against a backdrop of crisp white bedlinen and boldly coloured lighting. With the exception was the parents retreat, where delicate palette of taupe, sand, oyster and mink where layered with aqua and misty blues to create a retreat from the household flurry. Whimsical sheers lined with luxurious mocha silk drapes run the length of the area creating a dramatic visual effect as the breeze gentle plays with the textiles in the wind.
Being classic film buffs, the media room gave us a chance to play with the client's expectations. A contrasting black and white colour scheme used to create a bespoke double chaise sofa and ottoman together with speciality pieces such as the tripod studio lamp, enlarged movie posters framed on the wall and red leather beanchairs gave a cinematic feel to the space.
